Ink and colours on paper. Hanging scroll, brocade mounting. Inscribed with a funny poem about the chicks. Signed: Jipingtang shang laoren. Seal: Baishi weng. Chicks were a favorite subject for Qi Baishi, a reference to his rural roots. Paintings with this theme appeared mainly between 1927 and 1932.
