Short item description

A poetic shin-hanga landscape depicting the famous “floating” torii gate of Itsukushima Shrine on Miyajima Island, illuminated by the moon and reflected on the quiet water. Koho Shoda captures the serene spirituality of the scene through subtle color gradations and refined simplicity of form, balancing traditional Japanese symbolism with modern decorative harmony.

The absence of signature and seal suggests a later impression, likely produced for the export market during the 1930s.

This iconic composition remains one of the most recognizable images of the Itsukushima Shrine, today a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
