BOLD is not only the name of the gallery located in Prague’s Holešovice Art District dedicated to the best of contemporary and modern art as well as cultural and historical artifacts from around the world, but it’s also one of the primary characteristics of the Japanese samurai. Bold Gallery has organized an exhibition entitled Bushido: The Way of the Warrior, dedicated to the world of the samurai as the highlight of its spring exhibition schedule. In addition to several extremely rare historical sets of armor, swords, helmets, iron masks, sword guards, and other authentic treasures of Japanese handicraft related to the Way of Warrior, the exhibition will also feature other works of Japanese art such as antique folding screens and woodblock prints and a selection of works by contemporary Japanese master Hideo Takeda. Accompanying the exhibition is a program of expert lectures, guided tours, and live martial arts demonstrations by Jakub Zeman and his retinue of Way of the Warrior followers. The exhibition will also feature an NFT in the form of digital three-dimensional interactive model of Japanese armor.

Bushido: The Way of the Warrior runs from May 20 to June 21, 2022, and will conclude with an auction of all artifacts on display.

LAUNCH OF THE CATALOGUE

will take place on June 8, 2022, from 6 PM

DIGITIZATION OF THE BUSHIDO! COLLECTION

In cooperation with Ark Atlantis, the private collection of centuries-old samurai armour displayed at the exhibition BUSHIDÓ! has been digitally scanned, i.e. subjected to thorough photo documentation. We used the scan to create a unique NFT. It combines the historical context of the prose from the collection Iroha Uta and the scanned digital twin of the armor Yoroi Myochin Munesuke. The NFT sale will be launched by auction at the opening of the exhibition on 20 May 2022 and will run for the duration of the exhibition. In addition to the gallery commission, the proceeds from the NFT will benefit the Public Cultural Heritage Digitization Project. This is a pilot project that will be followed up in future auctions.
